Testimonials

“Buying a home is super overwhelming, and of course you’ve got your realtor, but it’s good to have somebody else to talk to. Everyone was super friendly, super easy to work with. I really can’t say enough good things about them.”

—Shaunna

“I am so grateful for the opportunities presented by WWHT, for their support of our community, and for making it better. I wish everyone could know about Windham & Windsor Housing Trust.”

—Dora

“Having this apartment matters for us because we can live our lives the way we want to. The fact that my son is able to have his own room, his own things — we’ve both gained a lot of independence.”

—Jessica

“I couldn’t be more pleased with Windham & Windsor Housing Trust to have the vision to move forward with [the Bellows Falls Garage], and be persistent because that’s a building that no one was ever going to touch and work with.”

—Robert

“[The Green Mountain Home Repair Program is] an extremely important resource for the community, and it’s particularly helpful for people who don’t have fantastic credit. If you can’t qualify for anything, you can’t fix your property…. We are just so grateful to WWHT for this program — it allowed us to stay in our home. We belong here, and we are very happy.”

—Gianna

“I’m so happy to have my own apartment — it was one of my goals. It’s good to have your own place, you can think more about life. If I need help, I know people are here for me. This is a good place for me.”

—Mike

Community Matters- A reflection of the community that rallied together during their neighbor’s final days

Elena Luring, SASH For All coordinator in Brattleboro wrote the below reflection on the community at 68 Birge street coming together to support Scott in his final days. This story was written and shared with permission granted by Scott's family. On August 13, Scott received devastating news. He had inoperable lung cancer that had spread throughout his body. Scott lived alone, but his community of neighbors rallied behind him, providing the support he needed to be able to spend his final days at home. He was very grateful for this. In response, to show his appreciation, Scott created eclectic...

Court Ruling Clears Way for Putney Housing Development to Move Forward

Putney, VT – The proposed housing community on Alice Holway Drive in Putney is cleared to move forward. The ruling by the state’s highest court affirms the Environmental Court’s decision earlier this year rejecting a third appeal that claimed the project was subject to an ACT 250 review.  It marks the final step in a lengthy legal process that began in March of 2022 when a first appeal was filed after the Putney Development Review Board...

No one goes hungry on Molly Bennett’s watch. Molly is the SASH Coordinator based out of WWHT’s Windsor Village, where, for the last four years, she has helped connect residents and low-income seniors in the community with resources, services and supports that they need to continue to live as independently as possible. That includes bringing healthy food to all who need it. And Molly makes it her business to know exactly who needs it.
As the SASH coordinator, Molly spends her days engaged with the residents of Windsor Village and Union Square, as well as about 25 participants living in private homes in the community. She helps with everything from housing to finances, to health and wellness, to filling out applications for assistance.
“I think we need to be able to meet people’s basic life needs before we can ask them to work on anything else,” she says. “We can’t ask people to make sure they’re going to the doctor and managing their blood pressure, managing their diabetes, managing anything, if they’re hungry. People’s outcomes are going to be so much better if we can just feed them.”
She adds, “You always feel the most love when someone puts a delicious meal in front of you that they’ve made for you. I think that really shows people that we care about them. If I bring a meal – just a little frozen meal – I bring it to someone, and it shows I care about them, that I want them to be okay.”

Happy Thanksgiving from all of us at WWHT! Stay tuned for the full story in our upcoming newsletter and enjoy a wonderful holiday!
