Brattleboro, VT — Windham & Windsor Housing Trust’s Alice Holway Drive development in Putney has been named as a “Vital Project” for Southern Vermont. The announcement was made this week by the Brattleboro Development Credit Corporation (BDCC) and the Bennington County Regional Commission (BCRC) as part of the Southern Vermont Comprehensive Economic Development Strategy (CEDS).
The WWHT development is one of ten projects receiving the CEDS Vital Project designation for 2023. Projects were selected by a volunteer committee composed of members of the public and business community. The committee reviewed a record-breaking 97 projects from municipalities, businesses, and non-profit organizations across the two-county region. The selected Vital Projects all share a focus on building community and strengthening infrastructure.
The Alice Holway Drive development will be two new buildings that will provide 25 energy-efficient apartments in Putney’s village center affordable to a mix of local incomes. The development will provide community space with a kitchenette and has been designed to accommodate existing community gardens and the Putney Farmers Market on the land. The slated development is immediately accessible to public transportation, connects with the walkable infrastructure of the town, and provides homes at an accessible rent with access to green space.
